SANTA MARIA, Calif. — October 31, 2026. Santa Maria’s central public library has updated its regular schedule, adding Sunday afternoon service for residents who may not be able to visit during the workweek.
The city’s library website says the revised hours took effect on August 1, 2026. The main library at 421 South McClelland Street now lists hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
What the library offers
The system provides access to books, a public catalog and digital materials for eligible library-card holders. Its official webpage also lists branches in neighboring Santa Barbara County communities including Guadalupe, Los Alamos, Orcutt and Cuyama. Each branch operates its own schedule; the main library’s new Sunday hours do not apply automatically elsewhere.
Residents can use the library to find reading materials, ask about borrowing, explore public programs and connect with online resources. Check availability of particular facilities and services before visiting.
Contact and closures
The main library’s listed telephone is 805-925-0994. Holiday hours or special closures may override the standard schedule, so consult the current city library page before traveling.
